Writing has always fascinated me for one reason; it was the one thing that I could do that lifted the burdens of life from my wee shoulders as a teenager. It was my escape and my motivation.
I have spent the last 12 years writing. I kicked off with my journal. I then graduated to a copywriter at one of Kenya’s leading media organizations, Radio Africa. I later moved to East and Central Africa’s largest media house, Nation Media group as a copywriter. Ooooh! Be amazed by me!
Kenyan advertisers got on my nerves. They always requested for something out of the proverbial box, but when I gave them that, it was too out there for them. I felt stifled exhausted and tired of the incompetence in news reporting. I was out to pull a ‘Batman’ and fix the mess in Kenya’s “Gotham” of news reporting.
I switched my pen from a fancy felt pen to a ball point. I became a journalist, I have written for 7 lifestyle magazines, True Love East Africa, Passion Magazine, Property Zone, Urban Perspective (UP), Destination East Africa, KENYA YETU and Kenya Airways in flight magazine; Msafiri. I also write news articles for the Daily Nation newspaper in Kenya. And an online news site Global Press Journal. I also worked to share stories of forgiveness Across Kenya with the Kenya Forgiveness Project.
I still hope to diversify my writing beyond magazines and news reports. I like to seek new challenges to stretch my skill. I also train on social media and mentor journalists.
